T R Zeliang, others condole demise of Zeliangrong Baudi president
DIMAPUR — Dy. Chief Minister of Nagaland, T R Zeliang, has mourned the demise of I Daniel Zeliang, president of Zeliangrong Baudi (Nagaland), after a brief illness.
In a condolence note, Zeliang said that the late I Daniel Zeliang had retired as Assistant Development Commissioner (ADC) on October 31, 2021, after 35 years of service.
“And right after his retirement, he was approached to shoulder the responsibility of the tribe. Despite his many personal responsibilities, he accepted the position of president,” he said, maintaining that as the president of Zeliangrong Baudi (Nagaland), he was always very active and at the forefront for the cause of the tribe.
The Dy. CM described the late Zeliang as someone who had a thorough knowledge of the Zeliangrong historical background and the importance of the three brothers—Zeme, Liangmai, and Rongmei—to live together in unity, and added that he strongly professed the ideology and aspirations of former Zeliangrong leaders like Jadonang and Rani Gaidinliu to bring Zeliangrong under one administrative umbrella.
He mentioned that the late Zeliang, in his capacity as the president of Zeliangrong Baudi, contributed much to the cause of unity and also propagated the idea for the reestablishment of a common platform like the Zeliangrong People’s Convention (ZPC).
“In his death, we have lost a great soul, yet we should take forward the objectives and aspirations he left behind for our people,” he said, adding that a huge vacuum has been created in his demise, and his death is a great loss for the people.
Extending his condolences to the bereaved family and all near and dear ones, Zeliang prayed that the Almighty God give them strength and solace during this time of grief and sorrow and that the departed soul rest in eternal peace.

With his death, the people of Peren district have lost a vibrant, true, and honest leader who could have led his people to greater heights. His death has created an irreplaceable vacuum in our community,” the note read.
The ZLSU has expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed to Almighty God to grant the family solace, peace, and wisdom, as well as eternal peace to the deceased.
