Dimapur, April 29 (EMN): The Sürümi Village Council (SVC) conducted a  meeting on issues pertaining the burial of Covid-19 victim on April 29. According to a press update, it was decided that in the event of a death of a Covid-19 victim, the mortal remains would be allowed to be buried in the village/cemetery/burial grounds of family or church after observing standard operation procedures (SOP).

The meeting was attended by village council, VDB, village elders, Dr. Akaho Awomi, deputy chief medical officer, Zunheboto, health workers, Shivukhu, convenor, Hotoshe Sema, secretary and Hokuto Jakhalu, member of Sürümi Pekikithi Mqo. The SVC stated that since the Health department had made it clear that there would be no additional risk of infection after a dead body is properly treated and attended, the death of Covid-19 victims should not be discriminated.

The SVC also appreciated the Health department and the administration for their unrelenting effort to ward off this pandemic in the state.
