Sümi community in Kohima felicitates UPSC achiever

DIMAPUR — The Kohima Sümi Officers’ Küqhakulu (KSOK), in collaboration with Kohima Sümi Hoho (KSH), Kohima Sümi Totimi Hoho (KSTH) and Kohima Sümi Students’ Union (KSSU), held a felicitation programme in honour of Tolino Chishi, who secured AIR 431 in UPSC examination, at Mount Olive College auditorium in Kohima on August 15.

Delivering the welcome address, KSOK president, Warren Holohon Yepthomi, stated that Sümi community secured its first IAS officer in 1982, second in 1996 followed with Tolino Chishi after a gap of 28 years to become the third regular IAS officer from the community.

Yepthomi congratulated Tolino Chishi for bringing laurels not only to her parents but to the entire Sümi community and the Nagas in general. He wished her all the best in her future endeavours.

K Shiwoto Wotsa, president of Kohima Sümi Hoho, conveyed heartfelt congratulations to Tolino Chishi on behalf of the Sümi community, stating that the achievement was a long-awaited dream and aspiration of the community. Wotsa has urged Chishi to continue inspiring young aspirants through her achievements and wished her God’s blessings in her career.

In her greetings, Tolino Chishi, recalled that her interest was in music and subsequently introduced to the Sümi Baptist Church Kohima as a pianist during the Sunday devotional service. She expressed gratitude to her parents for their support and encouraging her throughout her life.

Chishi emphasised the importance of having big dreams and working hard to achieve that dream, thereby setting example for the community to progress and encourage one another.

She further thanked the organisers for gifts, love, support and prayers.

Jehu Kinimi, president of KSSU, stated that Tolino’s achievement would always be the role model for the young civil service aspiring students, while Piholi Swunetho, president of KSTH, stated that Tolino’s achievement lies in the good deeds of her grandfather Hokhuvi, who had sincerely served as pastor.

Hekato Yeptho, vice president of KSOK, chaired the programme, wherein an invocation prayer was said by Rev. Vibo Sümi, pastor of NCRC, and Rev. Dr. G Kiyeto Sema, pastor of Sümi Aphuyemi Baptist Church, Kohima, bestowed a blessing prayer.

Topeni Assumi, regional head sales at Nagaland ICICI Bank, presented a song and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Bokato Hesso, information and publicity secretary of KSOK, and a benediction said by Khekavi K Yeptho, pastor of Sümi Baptist Church, Kohima.
