Suhail Ahmed dominates NAC Open Supercross

KOHIMA, JUNE 3: Suhail Ahmed from Bangalore emerged as the winner of the expert category at the NAC Open Supercross organized by the Nagaland Adventure Club (NAC) at Kohima Local Ground.
In the finale held at Khuochiezie in Kophima, the driver from Bangalore overcame other drivers to win the coveted title. Suhail also went on to win the title for the open category.
Blessed with a sunny day, the organizers also couldn’t have asked for more as spectators turned up in huge number to witness the first ever Supercross championship organized in the North East region.
The 1st runner-up in expert category was bagged by Paominthang R. Vaiphei from Meghalaya, while his fellow companion Naylin Chowhin, bagged the third place. Suhail scored 57 points to bag the title, while Paominthang and Naylin scored 54 and 45 points respectively.Amou Suohu, who scored 40 points, bagged the top place in the local category, while Mesavilie (34 points) and Akhotuo Chüzho (30 points) stood second and third.
In the novice category, the top three positions were all bagged by participants from Assam. Monjur Ali (52 points) emerged as the winner, followed by Abhijit Pegoo (46 points) and Abdul Sahid (45 points).
In the open category, Suhail Ahmed from Bangalore with 40 points again overcame Paominthang R. Vaiphei (34 points) from Meghalaya to lift the title. The third place was bagged by Eugene Niangti (28 points), also from Meghalaya.
The closing function was graced by Asangla Imti, director, youth resources & sports as the guest of honour. In her address, she urged the NAC to utilize the platform of motor sports to address the issues of the State and North East region at large.
Mention be made that four officials from the Federation of Motor Sports Club of India (FMSCI) were here in Nagaland to officiate the NAC Open Supercross. The Nagaland Adventure Club is now registered as an affiliated unit under the FMSCI.
Meanwhile, the NAC has also announced that the 7th Horsepower Challenge is tentatively scheduled in the month of October, 2016. The dates and venue are yet to be decided, it was informed.
