DIMAPUR — Director of Higher Technology, Dr. A Nshoga, stated that modern amenities and good teachers do not guarantee success but it is only achieved and made through ‘scratches, struggles and hard work.’

He stated this during the 54th freshers’ day programme of Kohima College on August 19 as the special guest. Dr. Nshoga pointed out that the students of Kohima College were one of the luckiest students in Nagaland, as they have access to the best teachers.

He, therefore, stated that they now have accountability and responsibility for the growth of the college, stated an update from the college.

He, however, cautioned that such variables do not guarantee success saying that success is only achieved and made through ‘scratches, struggles and hard work.’

He also reminded the freshers that they have the unique opportunity to be the first NEP batch in Nagaland and must thus tread a different route to success in the public domain. He concluded by quoting Napoleon Bonaparte, “The word impossible will be found only in the dictionary of fools.”

The programme began with an invocation and a welcome note by Dr. Petevinuo Chase, assistant professor of Environmental Science, and Dr. Vitsosie Vupru, principal of Kohima College, respectively.

It was followed by the induction of the new team of Kohima College Students’ Council (KCSC) headed by its general secretary, Nuvekho Rhakho, 5th semester student of Political Science (Honours).

The outgoing general secretary, Hyulo Tsela, delivered a speech on his experiences at Kohima College and also highlighted the annual report of KCSC 2022-2023 activities. The newly elected general secretary also spoke on the occasion and said, “Coming together is the beginning, keeping it together is the process, and unity is the end of that togetherness”.

The programme concluded with the crowning of Lhouviselie Kehie from the Commerce department and Rovinguno Nakhro from the Political Science department as Mr and Miss Freshers 2023.

The vote of thanks was delivered by Lhousazolie Zumu, outgoing assistant general secretary.
