Students urged to pursue career with courage

Dimapur, October 27: Noted Naga writer and Editor of Nagaland Page, Monalisa Changkija, encouraged the students of Nagaland University (NU) to step out of their comfort zone and to be bold in their literary pursuits.
Mrs Changkija said this while sharing her views, experiences and challenges as a Naga writer at the first annual literary day of Nagaland University, Department of English, Kohima Campus, Meriema, on October 25 held on the theme ‘Zephyr.’
The formal session was chaired by Ms. Serjana Thapa, while the invocation was proposed by VR Yursem David followed by the welcome address by Ngolu Resüh.
Dr. Rosemary Dzüvichü, HOD, English Department, NU, exhorted the students and lauded the efforts in orgainising the events.The students presented instrumental pieces and a special number. The vote of thanks was proposed by Ms Thunokuve Testseo and concluded with a benediction proposed by Hiamthuiyang James.
During the interactive session, students and faculty were provided an opportunity to ask, discuss and deliberate on certain issues with the writer.
The second session began with a solo and duet singing competitions showcasing the talents at the students. It was followed by the literary battle including declamations, extempore and debates. The competitions were judged by the faculty.
The session was brought to a close with the declaration at results, where the group Keats (MA English 3rd Semester) was adjudged the overall champion of the events.
