Students, teacher receive Yajen Aier and AKTM awards

MOKOKCHUNG— The fourth Yajen Aier award and Asetkong Kaketshir Telongjem Mungdang (AKTM) award ceremony, organised by the Asetkong Mungdang was held at Asetkong Mungdang Senden Salang in Kubolong, Mokokchung, on June 10 on the theme ‘Reinvigorating teaching and learning.’

A total of six students and one teacher were presented with the awards this year.

The recipients of Yajen Aier Award 2023 are HSSLC (Science) top 9, Ochien from St, John Higher Secondary Residential School, Dimapur; HSLC (Science) top 10, Tiatetla Jamir from Queen Mary Higher Secondary School, Mokokchung; Lensen Ozukum Ao, HSLC subject topper, and Meyimangyang, Ao subject teacher, both from Clark Memorial Higher Secondary School (CMHSS).

Awards for the best performing students among the schools in Asetkong range during the year 2022 were given to Rongnen Jamir of class 8, Katina of class 9 and Jongpongmoa of class 10 all from CMHSS, Impur.

Awards to schools for producing 100 percent HSLC passed results among the high schools in Asetkong range were given to CMHSS Impur, GHS Yisemyong, GHS Kobulong and GHS Longjang.

The recipients of the AKTM Excellency Award are HSSLC (Science) top 9, Ochien from St. John Higher Secondary Residential School, Dimapur, and HSLC (Science) top 10, Tiatetla Jamir from Queen Mary Higher Secondary School, Mokokchung.

Speaking at the programme, Pangjungkala, SDEO of PWD (NH), Mokokchung division, stated that behind every successful student there are parents, teachers, friends and people surrounding them who have motivated and supported. She congratulated the students for bringing laurels to the range.

She also acknowledged the efforts of Yajen Aier Award Committee and AKTM for working tirelessly to uplift the students particularly in education.

S Bendang Longkumer, former president of Asetkong Mungdang, praised the schools authority and village council of Sungratsu and Mopungchuket for their sincere efforts and productive involvement to uplift the students. He challenged the rest of the villages in Asetkong range to emulate the positive trend to uplift the schools in their respective villages.

He further motivated the students not to derail from their goals as people would look up to them. He also appealed to the teachers to be more dedicated in their noble professions in shaping the students to become assets for the society.
