Student bodies request Nagaland govt. to release post-matric scholarship final instalment

Dimapur, Nov. 19 (EMN): The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) and the Eastern Nagaland College Students’ Union (ENCSU) have appealed to the state government to release the second and final instalment of post-matric scholarship for 2019-20 within the next 10 days.

In a joint statement issued on Thursday, the unions said that the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs (scholarship division) had sanctioned INR 32,26,37,000 as second instalment for the year 2019-20 and first instalment (25% of central share) for the year 2020-21, on September 18 this year.

However, the department of Higher Education and the state government have failed to disburse the second and final instalment till date, they stated.

“While the requisite procedure to issue (with)drawal authority is well understood, the union(s) will not remain as mute observers when the students’ interests are deliberately disregarded,” the statement read.
