STPF appeals for immediate restoration of Shamator-Kiphire road

DIMAPUR — The Shamator Town Public Forum (STPF) has appealed to the PWD (National Highway) to restore the NH-202 Shamator-Kiphire road stretch near NAP Ward, Shamator headquarters, at the earliest.

In a press release, the STPF stated that the road stretch was cut off since July 16, 2023 due to a major landslide, but the PWD (National Highway) is yet to take up restoration work till date.

And even as the restoration work remains pending, the circular road has also been cut off at St. Xavier colony in Shamator and more cracks have appeared, which is affecting the citizens of Shamator district, the forum said.

It went on to state that ever since the landslide occurred, the general public has been facing inconveniencies all along.

The forum also cautioned that the road may pose a serious risk to human lives if restoration work is not carried out at the earliest.
