Dimapur, March 10 (EMN): A state youth festival under the programme for youth and adolescent development got underway at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima, on March 9.
Speaking at the inaugural function, chief guest and secretary of Youth Resources and Sports, Anenla S said the event is not all about winning, but participation and meeting different people, witnessing various talents and being inspired and setting goals. The youth festival started in 1995 to remember the contributions of Vivekananda. Since then, the Ministry of Home Affairs & Sports, Government of India, has been organising the event to bring the youth of the country together, Longchari maintained.
She stated that winners of the district level would represent at the state level, and winners of the state level would represent at the national level. She lamented that the department could not organise the programme at the district level due to fund constraints.
“Many of our youngsters are very talented, but we do not have the avenue for outlet of the talents,” Longchari lamented. She said the ongoing state level youth festival was an effort of the department to provide a small outlet for talented youth.
Superintendent of Department of Youth Resources and Sports, Avonuo said the invocation prayer, while the students of IGS Academy presented a special song and Atoli Yepthomi chaired the programme.
The event is being organised by the Department of Youth Resources and Sports.
