State to launch central scheme UJALA

KOHIMA, OCTOBER 14: Central scheme Unnat Jyoti by Affordable LEDs for All (UJALA) undertaken by District Initiative Towards Energy Efficient Kohima (DITEEK) would be launched on October 21 this year. This was mentioned by Dr. Niekiesalie Kire, minister of Forest, Ecology, Environment & Wildlife, and Advisor of the Adoption Committee, in his speech at the Exit Programme of the District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) Kohima Ward Adoption Committee, on October 14 at Lower Agri Colony, Kohima.

It scheme will be implemented by the district administration, wherein Kohima town and Kohima village will be covered in the first phase. Subsidized items like LED, tube lights, fans and street lights can be availed through the scheme. Dr. Kire also said that Lower Agri Colony was the second ward to come under DPDB Kohima Ward Adoption.

In regard to the brief departmental profiles given by Adoption Committee members and the various benefits that can be availed from the concerned department, he encouraged the public to avail those various benefits.

Er. JG Lorin Rengma, DIO (NIC), briefly spoke on DigiLocker, one of the key initiatives, under the Digital India initiative aimed at eliminating the usage of physical documents and enabling sharing of e-documents across government agencies via a mechanism to verify “authenticity” of the documents online. He explained that through this, residents can also upload their own electronic documents and digitally sign them using the e-sign facility. Users need to type the registered Aadhar card to log in and choose from two options for verification-One Time Password (OTP) and finger-print verification. Users can avail 10 MB data and raise to 1GB over the time.

Atuo Kapfo, Chairman of Lower Agri Ward Council, said under the supervision of the Adoption Committee, waiting shed, SBI ATM-cum-public toilet and road repairs within the jurisdiction were being carried out with contribution from the residents. Setting up of street lights and a few NRE streets solar lights and placement of all tampered wires were also done. He also informed that certain seminars on mushroom making, detergent and dish wash soap and flower vase making were also conducted.

Brief departmental profiles were given by Adoption Committee Members Kerüüpfeü Rüpreo, Principal DIET Chiechama; Mishanto Ghap, DHO (Horticulture) Kohima; Visayiecha Angami, SDEO Chiephobozou; Jakiedovo Chase, DSO (Sports) Kohima; and Khovi Thaprü, BDO Jakhama. Thejavizo Nakhro, EAC (Sadar) Kohima, was the chairperson of the programme, while a special number was performed by Lower Agri Youth Organisation.
