State teachers to hold general conference

Kohima, Oct. 26 (EMN): All Nagaland School Teachers’ Association (ANSTA) has announced to celebrate its 40th triennial general conference at John Government Higher Secondary School, Viswema, in Kohima district on November 1 and 2.
The event is being hosted by central ANSTA and Kohima unit ANSTA on the theme ‘Professional renewal towards academic excellence.’
Briefing the media on the event, Ponchulo Wanth, ANSTA president, said the event would focus on building professionalism and deliberate on the issues of the academic performances of the government schools in the state.
Wanth mentioned that the academic performance of the government school in the state is going down which needed to be ponder upon.
‘We need to renew our professionalism in work along with the changes taking place,’ Wanth stated. He hoped that through the conference, the association would renew and revive the professionalism to work with more dedication.
Wanth stated that open discussion session would be held during the conference on the topic “What ails the academic performance of government schools in Nagaland and how to improve it” and “Challenges of government school teachers in Nagaland, suggestions for remedial measures.”
ANSTA, in a bid to protect the environment, would also be going for nature walk to Dzukuo valley on the second day to develop the habit of caring the nature and inculcate among the teachers to teach the students. It was also informed that all the teachers will be granted two days special leave to enable them to attend the conference.
PWD minister, Tongpang Ozukum, and advisor of school education, KT Sukhalu, would be the special guest and guest speaker. Menukhol John, principal secretary of school education and SCERT, would be the resource person.
