State reports 164 new Covid cases, 1 death

Dimapur, Jan. 25 (EMN): Nagaland recorded a single-day rise of 164 fresh Covid-19 positive cases on Tuesday, taking the tally to 33, 818 and active caseload to 775.

The state’s cumulative recoveries also increased to 30,987 with recovery of 68 more patients in the last 24 hours.

The death toll increased to 691 with one fresh death reported on Tuesday. 

According to an update from the department of Health and Family Welfare, 135 positive cases were reported in Dimapur, 15 in Kohima, eight in Mokokchung, three in Wokha and one each in Peren, Phek and Tuensang.  Meanwhile, 59 in Dimapur, three in Kohima, two in Mokokchung, three in Peren and one in Phek have recovered during the same period.

Out 775 active cases in the state, 664 are asymptomatic, 99 mild, seven moderate on oxygen, one on ICU without ventilator and four on ICU ventilator

In terms of distribution of active cases, Dimapur has 564 infections, 127 in Kohima, 27 in Peren, 19 in Mokokchung, 23 in Wokha, six in Phek, three each in Zunheboto and Mon, two in Tuensang and one in Kiphire, while Longleng is currently Covid-free.  

India reports 2,55,874 new cases

India recorded a single day-rise of 2,55,874 Covid-19 infections on Tuesday, taking India’s total tally of cases to 3,97,99,202, according to data from the Union Health Ministry.

The death toll climbed to 4,90,462 with 614 fresh fatalities, the data stated.

The active cases had decreased to 22,36,842 while the national Covid-19 recovery rate had decreased to 93.15%.

A reduction of 12,493 cases has been recorded in active cases in a span of 24 hours, it stated.

The number of people who have recovered from the disease increased to 3,70,71, 898, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.23%, it said.

Meanwhile, the cumulative Covid-19 vaccine doses administered in the country so far is over 162.92 crore.
