State reports 10 new COVID cases

Dimapur, Aug. 2 (EMN): The number of active COVID-19 cases in Nagaland has increased to 76 with 10 fresh infections detected on Tuesday, while the state’s death toll remained unchanged at 766 with no fresh fatality reported during the same period.

An update from the Health department informed that three cases were detected in Wokha, two each in Dimapur and Kohima, and one each in Mokokchung, Mon and Phek, during the same period.

Meanwhile, the total number recoveries increased to 33,451 following recuperation of nine patients in Kohima, six in Dimapur and two each in Mokokchung and Phek.

Out of the 76 active cases in the state, 39 are asymptomatic, and 37 mild.

In terms of district-wise distribution of cases, Kohima has 31, Dimapur- 13, eight each in Wokha and Mon, seven in Mokokchung, three each in Longleng and Zunheboto, and one each in Kiphire, Phek and Tuensang.

India reports 13,734 new COVID cases, 34 deaths

India on Tuesday reported 13,734 new COVID-19 cases, a decline against the 16,464 infections logged the previous day, with 34 additional deaths, said the Union Health Ministry.

With the addition of the new fatalities, the country’s overall COVID death toll increased to 5,26,430.

The active caseload marginally declined to 1,39,792, accounting for 0.32 per cent of the country’s total positive cases.

The recovery of 17,897 patients in the last 24 hours took the cumulative tally to 4,33,83,787. Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.49 per cent.

India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage exceeded 204.60 crore, achieved via 2,71,14,804 sessions.
