DIMAPUR — The department of School Education, in collaboration with Samagra Shiksha Nagaland, organised the State Level Science Fair 2023 on Tuesday at Government Higher Secondary School, Pfutsero town, which included seminars and exhibitions.
According to a DIPR report, Avelü Rüho, joint secretary of School Education, encouraged students from all sixteen districts participating in the fair to cherish their time in Pfutsero, adding that the event would provide them with a platform to unleash their creativity, showcase innovative ideas, and enhance their understanding of various scientific concepts.
Avelu also discussed the importance of millet, stating that it is often considered a staple of the less fortunate and mentioning that millet is typically sold in packets in markets and can be found in many kitchens. In 2021, the United Nations General Assembly declared 2023 the Year of Millet, a decision influenced by India to raise awareness and increase millet production, she said.
She emphasised that millets, unlike wheat and maize, are resilient crops that can withstand a wide range of temperatures. She also inaugurated the Science Fair 2023 on the occasion.
