DIMAPUR —The Nagaland Home Department has directed the Director General of Police (DGP) and the Commissioner, Nagaland, to strictly enforce ban on unauthorised collections of money on state and national highways and market places.

In a letter issued on Monday, the Home Commissioner drew attention to the Home Department’s order dated May 31, 2012, banning illegal collections of money by unions, NGOs, etc., and another notification dated May 19, 2022, which banned the erection and operation of intra-state check gates as well as unauthorised collection at interstate check gates by any associations/groups or private individuals.

“It has also been laid down that anyone indulging in any such illegal activities is liable to be prosecuted under Section 188 and 384 of IPC (Indian Penal Code),” the letter stated.

Further, it directed the DGP and the Commissioner to ensure due compliance, while adding that, “Instructions may be issued to the respective district administration and police authorities for strict enforcement of the above orders.”
