DIMAPUR — St. Joseph University (SJU), Chümoukedima, celebrated pre-Christmas on the theme ‘Gilded reverence: A Christmas of grandiosity and sacred reflections’ at the university’s auditorium on December 16.

According to a press release, the first session of the programme was led by Lucy N Ngullie, assistant professor, department of Physics, and began with a thanksgiving fellowship and a special song presentation by the SJU music team.

Yashienla, assistant professor, department of Social Work invoked God’s presence, followed by the welcome address by Dr. Watinaro, assistant professor, department of Psychology and Counselling.

Rev. Fr. Dr. Michael Arockiam (Nathan) delivered the Christmas message, stating that the birth of Christ is a revolution for humanity and emphasising the importance of building fraternity despite differences.

Faculty members from various departments also presented choral songs that enthralled the audience.

Dr. D Gnanadurai, vice chancellor of SJU, delivered the special address, emphasising mankind’s purpose in being created in God’s image—to spread love. He said the human body is the temple of God, so one must keep away from all evils. In his note, he also encouraged and motivated the SJU family to work together as a team and spread good tidings.

The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Avinou Chupuo, assistant professor, department of History, and the benediction was said by Limongi Khuvung, assistant professor, department of English.

The second session, a dinner fellowship, was led by Aching Susanna from the department of Management. Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, Diocese of Kohima and pro-chancellor of SJU, bestowed the Christmas blessing upon the SJU family with a prayer and Christmas cake-cutting ceremony.
