St. Joseph College Jakhama clinch 3rd SJU Trophy

DIMAPUR — The third edition of St. Joseph University (SJU) Trophy, an inter-college/university tournament, organised by St. Joseph University, Chümoukedima concluded on Oct. 9.

St. Joseph College (Autonomous), Jakhama, was declared the overall champions of the third edition of the tournament, an update stated.

Twenty-four institutions took part in the tournament, which consisted of basket ball and volleyball for both men and women and football for men. 

In men’s basketball, Don Bosco College Kohima emerged champions followed by St. Joseph University, Chümoukedima in second place.

In women’s basketball, St. Joseph College (A) Jakhama and St. Joseph University, Chümoukedima secured champions and runners-up, respectively.

In men’s volley ball, St. Joseph University, Chümoukedima and St. Joseph College (A), Jakhama were declared champions and runners-up, respectively.

Don Bosco College, Kohima clinched the champions’ title in women’s volleyball while Dimapur Government College, Dimapur secured runners-up.

In men’s football, Dimapur Government College, Dimapur clinched the champions’ title while St. Joseph College (A), Jakhama were placed runners-up.

In the valedictory function, Vice-Chancellor of St. Joseph University, Dr. D Gnanadurai, gave away the St. Joseph University Trophy to the champions – St. Joseph College (A), Jakhama.

Meanwhile, the organising committee of St. Joseph University Trophy, conveyed gratitude to all the sponsors and well wishers for the successful conclusion of the trophy.
