Dimapur, Jan. 11 (EMN): The 34th biennial conference of Satakha Range Students’ Union (SRSU) began on January 10 in Kilo Old village under Zunheboto district on the theme “Quest for excellence.”
Kakuto Shohe, former SRSU president, was the resource person at the introductory session on January 10. Addressing the session, Kakuto urged upon the students to first seek God and be determined in all their endeavours and not be swayed away by worldly pleasures.
He further advised the students to maintain their identity and culture.
During the session, Nikhuje Swu, Head GB of Kilo Old Village, delivered the welcome address, while the president of Satakha Area GBs’ Association, Hokugha Chishi, also exhorted the gathering.
Agriculture and cooperation minister, G Kaito Aye, was the special guest of the inaugural session on January 11. Officials of All Sumi Students’ Union, Atokiho Sumi, also exhorted the gathering.
After the inaugural session, students took part in various games and sports including indigenous games and cultural items.
In the cultural session held in the evening, Dr. Hotokhu Chishi, joint director of health and family welfare, was the resource speaker. He spoke on the topic “Sumi of today.”
