[dropcap]P[/dropcap]opular British Christian worship group, Hillsong, of the London chapter, will be taking to the stage at the Kohima local ground from March 27. The event– being conducted under the theme ‘The Sound of The New Generation’ – will continue till the 29th. Organizers of the event are hoping the event would inspire young people to encounter Jesus and embrace their faith in a fresh way.
The three-day event, being organized by the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) youth department, is an initiative of New India Church of God and will incorporate live worship by a 10-member Hillsong London worship team and motivational speeches by Hillsong Church London senior pastor, Gary Clarke.“The event will be a kind of spiritual renewal crusade and we look forward that the young people of Nagaland will enjoy the programme,” said Vikuo Rhi, the NBCC’s youth secretary.
Addressing media persons at the NBCC office in Kohima town on Monday, the youth secretary said today’s younger generation needed lively and vibrant worship. However, he said, in their traditional way of worship, the churches sometimes fail to see to the need and many young people draw away from the church. He said the objective of the programme was to bring young people together with the church through group worship, and to renew their spiritual faith.
The convener of the event planning committee, Moa Imsong informed that there will be two special workshops on March 28 at 10 am at two locations. Workshop for pastors, youth pastors and church and youth leaders will be conducted at the Union Baptist Church Kohima by Hillsong London senior pastor, Gary Clarke while another workshop for worship and production teams will be conducted at the Sumi Baptist Church in Kohima town.
Planning committee members have informed that a 25-member team from New India Church of God, and church youth members from neighboring northeast states will also be attending the programme. They also informed that all the 20 associations from across the state under NBCC will be sending a delegation comprising at least 50 youth in each.
On the first two days, the live worship event will commence from 5 o’clock in the evening. The third day (Sunday) will have two services, one at 10 am and the other at 5 pm.
Pastor Gary Clarke, the main speaker of the three-day programme, is a noted inspirational preacher who is said to be devoted to some of the problems humanity faces- from youth issues to poverty, and is committed to helping people gain a genuine revelation of the message of Jesus Christ.
The committee has invited all the churches in Nagaland, regardless of denominations, and the people of state to experience and be a part of the event.
