Kohima, Dec. 11 (EMN):
The leader of the NPF legislature party and Co-Chairman of United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Kuzholuzo Nienu said the resolution to the protracted Naga political issue is ‘imminent’, adding that the matter is likely to be taken up during the ongoing winter session of the Parliament, which will continue till the end of December.

Interacting with journalists on Saturday evening (December 10), he also stated that the settlement is nearing and told people to ‘closely observe’.

However, he maintained that if the matter is missed during this session, the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) election will ‘go ahead’ next year.

The senior NPF party leader meanwhile maintained that the outcome of the solution is in the ‘common draft’, and the demand of the state government is to reveal it in the public domain for public consumption.

“So that the public could read it (common draft) and if the package is good for the Nagas, we should take it, if not we should stop it”, said Nienu, adding that the solution should have the approval of the parliament.

The NPF leader also said his party had decided not to campaign until Christmas and New Year in anticipation of the solution. ‘If it does not happen, it (party) will have to go ahead,’ he added.
