DIMAPUR — The 5th batch of School Leadership Development Programme (SLDP) for 53 head of schools from across the state got underway on Tuesday at SIEMAT Hall of SCERT in Kohima.
The one-month SLDP training is being organised by the School Leadership Academy, SIEMAT, SCERT, in collaboration with Nagaland Education Project–The Lighthouse (NECTAR) with an aim to equip the school leaders with relevant and updated skills, stated an update from the School Education department.
During a short inaugural programme, Achetla Ao, SCERT joint director and SIEMAT cell head, delivered the welcome address, wherein she encouraged the participants to be an effective school leader and to regularly update with relevant skills.
Razouseyi Vese, additional director of School Education and assistant project director of NEP–The Lighthouse (NECTAR), encouraged the participants to rededicate themselves and remain steadfast despite the numerous challenges in the schools. He added that an effective school leader brings about quality change and improves schools.
He further encouraged the school leaders to share best practices for the betterment of the school, students and the society.
Report stated that the training would focus on seven key areas namely perspective on school leadership, developing self, transforming teaching-learning process, building and leading teams, leading innovations, leading partnerships and leading school administration.
The programme aims to enhance the governance and capacity among school leaders, thereby contributing to the overall improvement of the education sector in Nagaland.
The ongoing batch of SLDP would conclude with project work submissions and an online valedictory programme on September 4.
It further mentioned that SLDP programme is one of the many initiatives being implemented by NEP-The Lighthouse (NECTAR) to improve the quality of education, teaching practices, capacity building and learning environment in government schools across the state.
