Skill development training for rural women held in Wokha
DIMAPUR — The second phase of short-term skill development training on tailoring for rural women, under Skill Development for Rural Women through Mobile Skill Morung, was launched at Wozhuro headquarter under Wokha district on Monday.
Additional Director, Department of Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (ESDE), Nagaland, Savio Visa, was the special guest of the inaugural programme, a DIPR report stated.
Speaking on behalf of the ESDE department, Visa encouraged the trainees to take the fourteen-day training seriously and to help the range people by starting their own tailor shops in their respective villages.
He also requested the village councils to extend logistic support and monitor the performances of the women trainees as they start the venture.
Twenty five trainees from different villages under Wozhuro range enrolled for the programme.
Chairman of Meriyan Village Council, Alow Khuvung, who spoke on behalf of Wozhuro Range Village Council Union (WRCU), thanked the department for bringing the training programme to their doorstep. He further requested the department to provide similar training to the youths of the range so as to mitigate the unemployment problem in the range.
In his closing remark, chairman of WRCU, Yanbemo Tungu also expressed gratitude to the state government and all the officials involved in the programme.
The launching programme was chaired by Vibeituonuo Rüpre-o, employment officer and district employment officer, Wokha, Atsie Kenneth delivered the welcome address.
