SJU students relive past through ‘Historia Diem’ event
DIMAPUR — The Department of History, St. Joseph University (SJU) Chümoukedima, held its much-anticipated fourth ‘Historia Diem’ at the university’s auditorium on August 16.
The event, themed ‘Reliving past: Enriching the present,’ was held with an aim to deepen students’ understanding of historical values and legacies by exploring significant figures and personalities, an update from the History department stated.
The day’s agenda was packed with a variety of competitions designed to engage students and showcase their historical knowledge.
“Participants competed in several categories, including folk fusion, declamation, dance, war cry, and costume competition. Each category provided a unique platform for students to demonstrate their understanding of historical figures and themes, from the impactful lives of leaders such as Martin Luther King Jr., Barack Obama, and Mahatma Gandhi, to the dramatic narratives of characters like Kunti from the Mahabharata and historical figures such as Hitler and Subhas Chandra Bose,” it stated.
Prof. Dr. Avinuo Chupuo, head of the Department of History, and Rev. Fr. Anish, PRO of SJU, presented awards to the standout students, recognising their performances and contributions.
