SJU hosts lecture on mental health awareness
DIMAPUR — The department of Social Work at St. Joseph University (SJU), Chümoukedima, in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), organised a lecture titled “Mental health: a priority” on Tuesday at the university’s seminar hall.
The event aimed to raise awareness among students about the importance of mental health and the urgent need to foster positive attitudes and actions toward mental wellbeing, stated a press release.
Speaking on the occasion, resource person Kilentola Jamir, a mentor and facilitator specialising in professional and personal development and a holistic counsellor, provided an overview of mental health, emphasising its critical role in overall wellbeing.
She urged students to take on the responsibility of contributing to the holistic development and mental health of those around them.
Jamir also highlighted the importance of transforming societal attitudes towards mental health, calling for proactive engagement in promoting mental wellness.
