SIT set up to probe murder case in Nagaland

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by SPDO Mokokchung has been set up to probe the murder case of a 34-year-old man from Chungtia village.

Imkongchiba Kichu was found dead between Satier and Longjongkong, a few kilometers away from Chungtia village, on Wednesday, a day after he and another person went missing.

Reliable sources informed that the victim and his friend were abducted by unknown miscreants on Tuesday night while returning home after attending a funeral in Chungtiayimsen. The deceased’s companion is safe.

A source from the police department said that a case has been registered at Police Station II and the SIT is investigating the case.

It was informed that the body of the deceased had been handed over to the family for the last rites after conducting post-mortem.

A candlelight vigil was held for the deceased at Chungtia village on Thursday night.
