SIT files chargesheet to prosecute 4 accused

Tatar, Dy. Kilonser of GPRN/NSCN and victim’s step-brother involved in the conspiracy to murder the proprietor of Apna Hotel

Dimapur, June 13 : The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Dimapur police investigating into the sensational murder of Ritika Mehta- the proprietor of the Apna Hotel, has filed the charge sheet in the case against four persons.

It may be mentioned that late Ritika Mehta, a prominent businesswoman and a socialite, was shot dead after miscreants fired upon her inside her establishment on Dec 14, 2015. The building where her establishment was located was a subject of dispute following the sale of the property by the step mother of the victim. The dispute was a matter known widely in the public domain.
Addl. Dy Commissioner of Police/PRO, in a press note said, following the incident, the SIT was formed to investigate into the aspects related to the case and the perpetrators bewwhind the crime. The investigation was thorough and elaborate. The SIT was able to gather necessary evidences against the accused persons in the form of physical, documentary and digital evidences. The investigation was also assisted by the Forensic reports in the form of Narco Analysis Test and Brain Electrical Oscillation Signature Profiling (BEOSP) conducted upon two accused persons from the Directorate of Forensic Sciences, Gandhinagar.

On January 9, 2016, the SIT arrested Motsuthung Ngullie S/o Ntsenthung Ngullie, a resident of Boro Lingrijan. He was ascertained to be a ‘Tatar’ of the Lotha Region, GPRN/NSCN. The investigations have found him to party in the conspiracy of the murder of the victim. Incriminating evidences of his involvement in the stages of planning and reconnoiter are found against him.

Thungkhomo Jungio S/o Nnio, was arrested on January 12, 2016. He was ascertained to be a ‘Dy. Kilonser’ of the GPRN/NSCN. He was found to be the main conspirator in the crime. The investigation was also able to establish that he was in receipt of huge sum of money from the members of the family engaged in the dispute with the victim. He had received the money on various occasions with an assurance to have the victim evicted out of the property by any means.

Thungkhomo Jungio and Motsuthung Ngullie were subjected to scientific tests in the form of Narco Analysis Test and Brain Electrical Oscillation Signature Profiling from the Directorate of Forensic Science, Gandhinagar – the best facilities available in the country for such tests. The results corroborated to the findings of the investigations.

The step brother of the victim- Tiachungba Ao S/o lt. B.S Sharma, has also been arrested and charged with liabilities of the case for being party to the conspiracy ultimately leading to the death of the victim. He was found to be involved in all dealings and payments made in connection to the conspiracy and was in knowledge of the plan.

Thechano Ngullie w/o Martoshi Lemtur, has also been arrested and charged with the liabilities of the case for being party to the conspiracy and facilitating the deal between the parties of the conspiracy.

It may be mentioned that the SIT will be filing a supplementary charge sheet on a later date and is likely to fix charges against few more others. The same is pending awaiting certain crucial reports. The charge sheet filed is exhaustive and lengthy explaining the details of the investigations and its findings into the various angles. Besides the evidences, it also includes various call records, recovered files from mobile phones and CPU, bank statements, statement of witnesses and confessional statements recorded before the Magistrate. The SIT is confident of a successful prosecution and delivery of justice.
