Singtom village in Manipur achieves 100% vaccination

Imphal, July 28 (EMN): After Azuram village in Tamenglong district, Singtom village under Chakpikarong sub-division in Manipur’s Chandel district has become the first fully vaccinated village with Covid vaccine in the entire Chandel district bordering Myanmar.

Sharing this information, Deputy Commissioner of Chandel district Mayanglambam Rajkumar in a press release on Wednesday said, “Singtom Village has 77 Households with a population of 394.”

According to the release, the village had 174 eligible persons to take the Covid-19 vaccine, out of which 173 eligible persons had taken Covid-19 vaccines which included seven pregnant women, nine lactating mothers, with only one person who was found Covid-19 positive being left out, as the person was not eligible to take the vaccine at the moment.

The district administration appreciated the support given by the sub-divisional officer, Chakpikarong; the chief of Singtom village, Zou civil organizations, Joint Task Force Zou Youth Organisation and Zou Sangnoupang Pawlpi and the untiring efforts of the District Health Society Team, which made it possible.

Last week, Azuram village in Tamenglong district was awarded a cash prize of INR 50,000 for having the highest percentage of vaccination of Covid vaccines in a month by district authority while Asha (Accredited Social Health Activist) worker Nambuanliu Moita(45) of Happy villa and Asha facilitator Panmei Dailiu of Kahulong village were awarded INR 10,000 each for mobilising more than 300 persons for vaccination with Covid vaccines.

Altogether 149 (97.38%) out of 153 eligible persons in Azuram village were vaccinated while two persons had not been vaccinated as per medical condition while two others are bed ridden, according to village chairman Nathanael Pamei.
