Kohima, June 2 (EMN): In a shocking incident, a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera has captured a burglar sneaking into a Covid male ward at District Hospital Dimapur in Nagaland and stealing two mobile phones from a patient and his companion during the early hours of Wednesday.
Dr. Keveduyi Theyo, Consultant of District Hospital Dimapur, told Eastern Mirror that the burglar entered the ward through the backdoor and took away two mobile phones.
He informed that both the victims had filed FIR, following which the police had collected information available in the hospital. He added that the police would investigate into the matter and take action as they have the CCTV footage.
Meanwhile, the doctor told this newspaper that similar incidents had occurred thrice this year. He went on to reveal burglars took away cash from Covid patients after entering their wards last year.
In the video clip, which has been widely circulated, a bare-footed person is seeing stealthily entering the ward before crawling under the bed of a Covid patient on oxygen and taking away the mobile phone. The masked burglar then went out of the door only to return after a few seconds to steal another mobile phone lying besides the patient’s companion who was sleeping on the floor.
The burglar accidentally shoved the pedestal fan while leaving the room, waking up the patient and his companion.
