Seven students receive Mayangnokcha Awards
The 30th presentation ceremony of Mayangnokcha Awards for Academic Excellence under the aegis of the Mayangnokcha Award Trust (MAT) was held at Mokokchung Town Hall on August 8.
MOKOKCHUNG — The 30th presentation ceremony of Mayangnokcha Awards for Academic Excellence under the aegis of Mayangnokcha Award Trust (MAT) was held at Mokokchung Town Hall on August 8 with the advisor of Transport and Technical Education, Temjenmenba Advisor, who is also the grandson of Mayangnokcha, as the guest of honour.
Speaking at the ceremony, Temjenmenba recalled the sheer determination and efforts of Mayangnokcha to bring a change among his people through education.
“The challenges Mayangnokcha faced during his time might have been many, but his determination and single-minded focus and vision to succeed is a value which all young achievers and students should try to emulate to succeed in life,” he said.
He stated that education is not all about classroom learning but it also encompasses learning from parents, teachers and predecessors about values which determine the true aspect of an educated society.
He also challenged young achievers and students by saying that, in this contemporary world, the onus of responsibilities is on their shoulders. He, therefore, urged them to act as the torch bearer to bring about the desired changes in society.
Dr. Sunep Imchen, chief veterinary officer of Mokokchung and MAT member, paid tribute to Mayangnokcha and exhorted on the vision of MAT to perpetuate the memory and works of the late Mayangnokcha.
The youth department of NCRC, Mokokchung, presented the theme song of MAT “The Educationist.”
Later, Temjenmenba gave away MAT 2023 Awards.
Mayangnokcha Award for Academic Excellence (overall topper) was given to Khotolu Curha from Mezhur Higher Secondary School, Kohima, while MAT-Rockdale Award for the subject topper in Ao (MIL) was given to Zuluienla T Jamir from Queen Mary Higher Secondary School, Mokokchung, and MAT-YRSD Award for the subject topper in Social Sciences was given to Khotolu Curha from Mezhur Higher Secondary School, Kohima.
The MAT-TY Award for the subject topper in Science was given to Thsatangpa Santam from Loyola Higher Secondary School, Kiphire, while MAT-EFoM Award for the subject topper in Mathematics was given to Mulungsula Changkiri from Holy Cross Higher Secondary School, Dimapur, MAT-CEC Award for the subject topper in English was given to Mulungsula Changkiri from Holy Cross Higher Secondary School, Dimapur, and MAT- Lenjeter Award for the subject topper in Environmental was given to Aliu T from St. John’s Higher Secondary School, Tuensang.
