Seketoukho Nipu is winner of Sechü Zubza wrestling meet

SECHÜ ZUBZA, DECEMBER 15

26 year-old Seketoukho Nipu emerged as the champion of Sechü Zubza wrestling meet 2015 held at WAPO Ground, Sechü Zubza.
Seketoukho, who also bagged the third position at this year’s 9th International Hornbill Naga Wrestling Championship 2015, downed his younger brother Petekuolie Nipu (21 yrs) in the final to emerge as the winner. The Nipu brothers are sons of Rokomekho, a prominent wrestler during his time. Mention be made that their father Rokomekho Nipu, in the past years, had bagged the third position in Angami Sports Association wrestling meet twice as well as bagged several titles at Western Angami Sports Association wrestling meet.
The third place was bagged by another upcoming wrestler Kekhriezo Nagi (25 yrs), son of Videtuolie Nagi, while Kedizelhou Zhünyü (18 yrs), son of Zhasie Zhünyü, bagged the fourth position.In the under-14 wrestling championship, Khriesamhalie Nagi, son of Teiso Nagi, emerged as the champion, while Zasevikho Miasalhou, son of Atuo Miasalhou, bagged the second position. Vilhoukhoto Rino, son of Menuo-u and Neikerhezo Zhünyü, son of Keviselie, bagged the third and fourth positions respectively.
Earlier, the inaugural function was graced by Mhasikhotuo Zhünyü, chairman, Sechü Zubza Village Council, as the special guest.
In his address, he encouraged the wrestlers to partake in sports activities with total commitment and dedication so as to excel at higher level. He further advised them to be discipline, stating that it is the first step for a sportsman to go higher.
While stating that the youth organization is one of the strongest bodies in the village set up, he urged the youth leaders to be strong and determined so as lead the youth members to the right path.
The programme commenced with invocation pronounced by Pfüsie-o Bei-o, assistant pastor, Christian Revival Church, Sechü Zubza, while SZYO president, Megoneituo Kielienyü chaired the function. The oath of administration was led by Desielie Miasalhou, asst secretary games & sports, SZYO, while ‘Voices from the Hills’ presented a special number.
The wrestling meet was organized by Sechü Zubza Youth Organisation. Meanwhile, the selected wrestlers will represent SZYO at the Western Angami ‘D” Group Sports Association wrestling meet 2015, scheduled in the month of January at Kiruphema village.
