“Love conquers all, hatred kills oneself”
The Rengma Baptist Women held its convention at Tesophenyu from 9th – 11th December, 2016. During the morning session at 09:00 am, on 11th December, 2016, the talk of Mrs. Khontyüle, W/o Rev. TengaSeb(Pastor, Rengma Baptist Church, Khermahal – Dimapur) has created turmoil among the participants and in the Rengma region by referring to the Catholic Church as anti-Christ whereby she mentioned the merging of Islam and Catholic Church as “Christ-Islam” where Pope Francis has initiated the erection of the said Church in the Vatican. She referred to Pope Francis as the beast found in the book of Revelation. She clearly referred to the Catholic Church as anti-Christ. Her statement has deeply hurt the sentiments of the Rengma Catholics, erstwhile Catholics and the Catholic Church in general. Convention of any kind under the umbrella of religion are aimed at better and higher spiritual realm for positive changes in one’s life and the society. But she has used religion as a tool to create enemies. Moreover, she has desecrated the spiritual convention hall by such ‘hate speech’. Any false preaching made on the altar of God is an utter desecration to the house of God. And she has boldly ventured into such great sin. Instead of speaking on the theme given to her, “Be presentable as a pure bride of Jesus Christ” she has made herself unpresentable before God, the Heavenly Father and in front of all the participants present. Therefore, even the participants were ashamed to hear such words from such a great spiritual and social standing lady.

Therefore, we would like you to clarify and explain as to what made you to go to the extent of poisoning the minds and hearts of the people with such false knowledge. Being an honourable wife of a great Reverend, such words may not fit you. Words can heal, on the contrary it can also divide and invite bitterness among even good friends. Today, you have sown weeds inside the good souls of the Rengmas, but we believe that you will reap the harvest of your words in the near future. We strongly demand clarification and apology from you for such false statement made during the prayerful convention for it has created hatred between people of different churches. May God bless you with truth and justice.

With Prayer,
Catholic Youth Movement (CYM)
St. Joseph’s Church,
Tseminyu Village
