Sechuma youth organise thanksgiving service

Kohima, Dec 11: Commemorating its 50th anniversary, the Sechüma Youth Organisation (SYO) organised a thanksgiving service on December 10 at Sechüma village council hall.
The one-day programme was graced by Rüüngutuo Sechü, finance secretary of Naga Hoho, as the main speaker. Rüüngutuo lauded the SYO for attaining 50 years and urged the youth members to continue contributing towards the welfare of the society even in the days to come.
“In attaining this milestone, it is time to retrospect the journey that we have travelled. Nevertheless, let us be reminded of our responsibility that lies ahead, and continue to march with greater zeal and spirit in responding to the challenges of our times,” he said adding that the youth body holds a huge responsibility in taking the society forward.
“The progress of a society will depend much on how we respond during our times. Therefore, let us take decisions wisely in order to contribute positively for the well being of our people at large. He reminded the youth members to observe the jubilee as a time of true thanksgiving to the almighty, and also a time to forgive and forget if there had been any misunderstanding or personal differences amongst the people and villagers.
“Let this also be a time to remember the sacrifices and contributions of our pioneers who have taken great pain and effort in guiding the youth body till this day,” he said and reminded the youths to carry of the legacy set by the past leaders.
Prior before the programme, the Naga Hoho leader also unveiled the SYO 50th anniversary monolith.
The programme, chaired by Rokoneikho Rhatsu, commenced with prayer pronounced by Roziekolie Nipu, pastor, Sechüma Christian Revival Church. Greeting was delivered by Pelevisie Rhatsu, chairman, Sechüma Village Council, while Sechüma women society presented a folk song.
