‘Scouts and Guides can help youth to achieve full potential’
Dimapur — State Commissioner (Guide) Nino Iralu on Tuesday advised the Scouts and Guides that a person can fulfill one’s duty to humanity by being physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight.
The state commissioner was addressing the Dimapur District Bharat Scouts and Guides Association (DDBSGA) induction programme held at Vidhya Bhawan Higher Secondary School, (Nagarjan), Kuda village.
Iralu said that Scouts and Guides is a voluntary, non-political and educational movement for young people, open to all without distinction of origin, race or creed, in accordance with the purpose and methods conceived by the founder in 1907.
She went on to state that Scouts and Guides can contribute to the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual potentials as individuals and as responsible citizens.
She also said that the association can help the students to explore and discover the world beyond classroom and also help them in all-round development as the aims and objective of the association is development of character, leadership, citizenship training and personal fitness.
She further stated that the structure of the Bharat Scouts and Guides Association is “a setting where young people can learn new skills and develop habits of continual learning to help them succeed.”
During the programme, Highland Hall Scouts and Guides performed folk dance, Pilgrim Higher Secondary School Scouts and Guides presented a classical dance and Rovers and Rangers from Vidhya Bhawan Higher Secondary School also presented a special number.

The newly-inducted vice presidents of DDBSGA included Shikaho P Yeptho, general manager, NST; Manpai Phom, administrator DMC; Moatemsu Walling, principal CHSC; Fr. Stephen Chazhisseril, SDB Principal DBHSS; Bambi Kevichusa, fashion designer, and Nise Meru, piano maestro.
