School leadership development programme underway in Kohima
DIMAPUR — A one-month school leadership development programme (SLDP) for 48 head of schools from across Nagaland got underway at SIEMAT hall of SCERT in Kohima on Tuesday.
An update from the School Education department stated that it is the 4th batch of SLDP for school heads being conducted by the School Leadership Academy, SIEMAT (SCERT), in collaboration with Nagaland Education Project – The Lighthouse (NECTAR).
The programme aims to enhance governance and build the capacity of school leaders, thereby contributing to the overall improvement of the government schools in Nagaland.
In his keynote address, the principal director of School Education and project director of NEP- The Lighthouse (NECTAR), Thavaseelan K, emphasised the pivotal role of school leaders. He underscored that an effective school leader can bring about the transformation and growth of a school.
Benjungdenla Yaden, Reader at SCERT, Kohima, gave the concluding remarks and highlighted the importance of SLDP in the continuous professional development of existing school heads as well as in building the capacity of teachers for improved school leadership roles.
It mentioned that the ongoing batch of SLDP would conclude with project work submissions and an online valedictory programme on August 14.
The SLDP programme is one of the many initiatives being implemented by the NECTAR project to strengthen governance and capacity building, improve teaching-learning practices and enhance the learning environment in government schools across the state, it added.
