SCC organises entrepreneur awareness programme

DIMAPUR — The Entrepreneurship Development Centre of Sao Chang College, Tuensang, hosted a one-day ‘Entrepreneur Awareness Programme’on August 17 with the aim to nurture entrepreneurial skills and inspire innovation among aspiring entrepreneurs.

The event was supported by the North Eastern Council (NEC), Shillong, and the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship, Guwahati, which served as the nodal agency, providing essential resources and support, the college stated in an update.

A Chubasangla Chang, coordinator, EDC, Sao Chang College (SCC), outlined the technical framework of the awareness program, discussing its objectives, expected outcomes, and the importance of cultivating entrepreneurial mindsets in today’s fast-paced world.

Participants were first invited to share their business ideas, creating a collaborative atmosphere that encouraged the exchange of insights and experiences.

“This initial discussion set the tone for the day’s activities, fostering meaningful engagement between attendees and speakers,” it stated.

The first technical session, presented by Aochuba Jamir, post graduate teacher (Physics) at Government Higher Secondary School, Tuensang, focused on the role of business models in entrepreneurship. He explored various types of business models, their practical application, and their influence on business success.

In the second session, Yanger Kichu, farm manager of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Tuensang, discussed the entrepreneurial potential of the North East, particularly Nagaland. He highlighted the region’s unique resources and challenges, identifying key growth areas such as agriculture, handicrafts, and eco-tourism.

The third session, led by Takumpuba Lomou, assistant professor (English), Sao Chang College, provided insights into effective sales and marketing strategies. He emphasised practical approaches for reaching customers and building a strong brand presence in competitive markets.

Around 40 prospective entrepreneurs from diverse fields, including students, local business owners, and start-ups, participated in the programme. Their varied backgrounds contributed to enriching discussions and valuable networking throughout the day.

Earlier, Dr. Lanurenla, principal of Sao Chang College, in her welcome address, highlighted the college’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurial education and innovation.

The event was chaired by Lemkhaba, assistant professor, while Tononaro Chongpho, assistant professor, proposed vote of thanks.

“In summary, the entrepreneur awareness programme provided a dynamic platform for learning, networking, and inspiration, equipping participants with the insights and motivation needed to embark on their entrepreneurial journeys,” it stated.
