CHOZUBA — Advisor for CAWD and Taxes, Kudecho Khamo, expressed concern regarding land encroachment and ownership issues, which are hindering developmental activities across the state.

He raised questions about the potential misuse of Article 371 (A), which provides special provisions for Nagaland, urging people to utilise the article to safeguard the state’s political rights within the framework of the Indian Constitution, rather than impeding its development.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony of additional classrooms constructed under Samagra Shiksha Nagaland at GHS Japan Riba, Chozuba in Phek district, Khamo emphasised the importance of development in society, as it not only eases the lives of people but also drives societal progress and upliftment.

Khamo urged landowners across the state to reflect on past instances where land was allocated or sold for government developmental projects, and said that attempts to encroach on those lands by the present generation is illegal, morally unethical, and traditionally ‘a curse.’

The advisor went on to assert intolerance against ‘proxy teachers,’ stating that it should not be allowed under Chozuba assembly constituency, and urged the village councils and village education committees to prohibit this practice.

“Teaching in school has become a serious business and is not meant for part-time teachers,” he said, adding that it should be taken up only by those who are will to work full-time to build up and nurture young minds.

Highlighting the need for a multi-faceted approach toward education that is not confined within the four walls of the classroom, he underscored the need for skill and practical learning in order to train students to be competent.

Noting the developmental activities and other initiatives taking place in the school, Khamo lauded the Assistant Headmaster, the public, village leaders, and the church leaders of the five villages for supporting the school through community contribution.

He advised the students to dream big with strong determination and become people who help and work for the welfare others. He also urged the gathering to pursue ‘one family one project, one family one entrepreneur and one family one prayer time’ each day.

The construction report was delivered by Kuduve Keyho, Class 1 Contractor, who informed that a total of 87.84 sqm plinth area was constructed under the Samagra Shiksha PAB 2021-2022 for a total project cost INR 43,13,056.

Assistant Headmaster, Vekhozo briefed the gathering, stating that the school has five feeding villages including Chozuba, Runguzu, Runguzu Nasa, Khusomi and Chozu Basa. He also informed that a school chapel hall is being constructed by the churches and a community hostel by the village councils and village development boards.

Other highlights of the day included a short speech by Veto Keyho, coordinator of EBRC Chozuba, special presentations by the students and Kuthosu Tsutso, Teacher (Voc.), inaugural prayer by Rev. Vesavo Shijoh, Pastor of Chozuba Village Baptist Church. The vote of thanks was proposed by Vinoto Achumi, GT (Science) and benediction prayer by Nuvotso Luruo, Pastor of Runguzu Baptist Church.
