Sao Chang College organises entrepreneur awareness programme

DIMAPUR — The Entrepreneurship Development Centre of Sao Chang College (SCC), Tuensang, organised a one-day entrepreneur awareness programme on August 10.

The initiative was with the objective to foster entrepreneurial skills and inspire innovation among aspiring entrepreneurs, the college stated in an update.

The programme was sponsored by the North Eastern Council (NEC), Shillong, and the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship, Guwahati, which served as the nodal agency, providing crucial support and resources for the event.

Before the technical sessions commenced, all the participants were given an opportunity to share their business ideas, creating an environment of collaboration and idea exchange.

The first technical session was led by Aochuba Jamir, PGT (Physics), Govt. Hr. Secondary School, Tuensang, who emphasised the importance and implications of business models in entrepreneurship. His presentation covered various types of business models, how they can be implemented, and their impact on business success.

In the second session, Yanger Kichu, farm manager, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Tuensang, explored the scope and opportunities for entrepreneurship in Nagaland. He provided insights into the region’s unique resources and challenges, highlighting sectors with significant growth potential, such as agriculture, handicrafts, and eco-tourism.

The third technical session was conducted by Takumpuba Lomou, assistant professor at Sao Chang College. He delivered an engaging lecture on sales and marketing strategies, focusing on practical techniques for reaching customers and building a strong brand presence in competitive markets.

The programme was attended by over 40 prospective entrepreneurs from various fields, including students, local business owners, and aspiring startups. Their diverse backgrounds enriched the discussions and networking opportunities throughout the day, it stated.

Earlier, principal of Sao Chang College, Dr. Lanurenla, in her welcome note, highlighted the institution’s commitment to supporting entrepreneurial education and innovation.

She encouraged participants to take advantage of the resources and expertise offered during the programme.

Dipak Nath, associate professor in the Department of Physics, SCC, highlighted the technical modalities of the awareness programme. He discussed the objectives, expected outcomes, and the importance of entrepreneurial thinking in today’s rapidly changing world.

Ciekrovoto Theluo, assistant professor in the Department of Mathematics, SCC, chaired the programme, while A Chubasangla Chang, coordinator of the Entrepreneurship Development Centre, SCC, proposed the vote of thanks.

“Overall, the one-day entrepreneur awareness programme provided a platform for learning, networking, and inspiration, equipping participants with the knowledge and motivation to pursue their entrepreneurial ventures,” the update added.
