Sao Chang College conducts field study to Aüching village

DIMAPUR — The department of Environmental Science at Sao Chang College conducted a field study to Aüching village, Longleng, in collaboration with LEMSACHENLOK, a society, on Monday.

According to an update, the study topic was ‘Community participation in biodiversity conservation and livelihood enhancement,’ and 178 students, along with four faculty members from Sao Chang College, LEMSACHENLOK team members, and Aüching village leaders, took part.

During his address to the students, Dr. Y Nuklu Phom, the team leader of LEMSACHENLOK, stressed the significance of sustainability in any endeavour. He emphasised the models they utilise in their efforts concerning biodiversity conservation and livelihood enhancement through community involvement.

He also emphasised effective community participation, highlighting the importance of identifying, managing, and sustaining resources. This approach, which he refers to as the IMS Model, forms a strong foundation for sustainable development activities.

The department of Education expressed gratitude to the leaders of Aüching village and the LEMSACHENLOK team for sharing their knowledge. They also thanked the 3rd NAP, IR 9th Coy, ITI, and DEF for providing buses, which made the field trip possible.
