SAMETI trains extension professionals in urban farming
DIMAPUR — The State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI) organised a two-day training programme on urban farming for extension professionals from February 27 to 28.
According to an update, during the course of the training, Dr. Azeze Seyie, scientist (spices, plantations, medicinal and aromatic crops), ICAR Research Complex, NEH Region, Nagaland Centre, Dr. S R Assumi, senior scientist (horticulture), ICAR, NEH Region, Nagaland Centre and Alex Khathing, CGO and partner at Future Farms, Chennai, emphasised urban farming and its potential, focusing on growing vegetables and herbs, as well as understanding the dynamics of urban farming.
The participants also visited ZU Farm, which is a partner with Future Farm, located in Kohima.
The valedictory program was chaired by Yezaho Swu, DPD SAMETI, while feedback on the training was provided by all the participants. Certificates were also distributed to the trainees.
