DIMAPUR — The State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI) in Nagaland was awarded the “Best Performing SAMETI” for training the highest number of rural youth.
The award, presented by the National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE), Hyderabad, also recognised SAMETI’s exceptional implementation of the Skill Training of Rural Youth (STRY) scheme during 2023-24.
According to an update received here on Wednesday, the STRY scheme, a flagship initiative of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, focuses on empowering rural youth aged 18-40 with practical skills in agriculture and allied sectors, enhancing their employability. SAMETI Nagaland effectively implemented the programme in collaboration with MANAGE, reaching a significant number of young individuals, it said.
Dr. Watimongla Jamir, Director of SAMETI and Principal of IETC, received the award during the National Workshop on Extension Strategies to Promote Skill Development of Rural Youth held at MANAGE, Hyderabad, held from July 11 to the 12th, the update stated.
