On the one hand, Salman is receiving a million bouquets and accolades for his fantastic performance in ‘sultan’ and on the other, the superstar is also fetching quite a few brickbats for his ‘raped woman’ controversy. For those not in the know, the actor, while narrating his rigorous rehearsals and shooting schedule for the film, said that after walking out of the ring, he felt like a ‘raped woman’.
While his father, veteran writer Salim Khan apologized on his behalf on Twitter, this is what Salman has to say about the entire controversy and how his honest replies and candidness has landed him in trouble. “It’s really sad. If I don’t say anything I am boring. If I say something then it becomes an issue and my people won’t like it.”
Talking about how his father believes in calling a spade a spade, and his tweets too are a testimony to that, Salman, in his trademark tongue-in-cheek humour, said, “My father is doing fantastic job on Twitter and I want to tell him… do whatever you want to do man but dont trouble my mother man.”
When asked if not him, which other actor does he think could have done justice to the role, Salman, after a brief pause and a smirk, said, “If not me then only sultan could have played and done justice to Sultan.” Now, didn’t he make it very clear that nobody else but only he could have pulled off the character with great aplomb!
The ‘Dbangg’ Khan did agree that superstars like him and Aamir Khan associating themselves with wrestling and promoting it through their films have definitely helped the sport in a big way. “Oh yes, it has helped a lot. Akhadas that had shut down in Maharashtra have reopened after ‘Sultan’s release.”
