Salesian College organises e-waste awareness prog., collection drive
DIMAPUR — Salesian College of Higher Education, Dimapur, collaborated with CGST, Dimapur Commissionerate, and e-Circle, Chümoukedima, to organise an awareness programme on e-waste management and an e-waste collection drive on September 23 as part of the Swachhata Hi Seva initiative.
According to an update from the college, the event was attended by RH Meena, Commissioner of CGST Dimapur, along with colleagues as well as Bendangwala Walling and Sowete-ü, managing partners of e-Circle.
Speaking on the occasion, Meena congratulated the managing partners of e-Circle for their commendable work in spreading awareness about e-waste management. He also urged the students of the college to learn about waste management and take action to keep their surroundings and atmosphere clean.
Meanwhile, Bendangwala urged all the students to practice electronic and electrical waste management.
She stated that there is currently a 20% general increase in electronic and electrical waste, as even youths in the remotest villages are handling e-gadgets. If this waste is not recycled or treated properly and is instead dumped in landfills or burned, it will significantly contribute to air pollution and land poisoning.
