Sainik School Punglwa kicks off 14th annual sports meet
DIMAPUR — The 14th annual sports meet of Sainik School Punglwa began on November 11, with Col. Arvind Nautiyal, the school’s principal, attending the opening ceremony as the chief guest and formally declaring the meet open.
According to a press release, the marathon, the first event of the meet, was flagged off by the principal.
The marathon was divided into two categories: 3,000 metre for the girl cadets and 5,000 metre for the boys, both senior and junior. The competition included at least ten cadets from each of the four junior and senior houses.
Cadet Kavya Prakash of Melak House, Cadet Resomong L of Pauna House, and Cadet Musho B of Doyang House won gold medals in the girls’, junior and senior boys’ categories, respectively.
Pauna and Tizu House stood first in the junior and senior houses, respectively.
A number of staff members, both men and women, participated to encourage and motivate the cadets. In the men’s category, Keshav Adhikary Chhetry, trained graduate teacher (TGT), Social Science, secured the first position. In the women’s category, Peteneinuo Dzuvichu, Matron, fetched the gold medal.
