DIMAPUR — The District Programme Management Unit, Office of Chief Medical Officer, Dimapur, informed that activities under SAARTHI- Awareness of wheels were carried out in various areas under Dimapur urban on July 9.
The activities were conducted with a view to mobilise the public to accept family planning services during the upcoming Population Stabilisation Fortnight from July 11 July to the 25th.
“Besides disseminating information on the choices of Family Planning services available free of cost in all government health units, condoms and IEC materials were also distributed,” stated a press release from CMO office.
SAARTHI- Awareness on wheels under Mission Parivar Vikas is an initiative of the Government of India to reach out to communities and initiate dialogues on Family Planning, healthy birth spacing, and importance of small family planning.
The campaign also aims to empower women and families and strengthen women’s decision making power in relationships and in the homes. The campaign also aims to enable individuals and couples to have the number of children they desire with the spacing and timing they want.
SAARTHI activities will be carried out blocks-wise under Dimapur District in the coming months, the release stated.
