Rural development, Horticulture officials visit project site

A team of officials from the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) of Dimapur along with officials of the district’s horticulture office visited a proposed lemon plantation project site in Dimapur on Monday. The project is proposed to be taken up under the MGNREGA program in collaboration with the department of Horticulture department, at Pukhato village under the rural development block of Kuhuboto.
The team of officials comprised Alemla Chishi, project director of the DRDA, District Horticulture Officer Jerry Patton, Horticulture Officer Temsu Longkumer, Assistant Horticulture Officer Aoimrong Aier, APC Imkong Phom, and K. Alem Jamir, junior engineer Kuhuboto block. They visited the site of the RD-Horticulture convergence project and interacted with villagers about how the project would take shape.
Talking with the beneficiaries, Alemla Chishi told the villagers to be sincere and extend cooperation towards the two departments for successful implementation of the project which would directly benefit the villagers. Project Director said the success of the project would set good example for other districts to follow.
She said funding of the project would be done under MGNREGA while Horticulture department would train the villagers and support the villagers technically.
Also speaking on the occasion, Jerry Patton stressed on the maintenance and preservation of the project and how the plants could yield more harvest. He told the villagers that plantation of lemon would inter-cropped with banana, through which villager could get maximum benefit.
