RPF recovers stolen passenger’s belongings worth INR 2.92 lakh

DIMAPUR — The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) apprehended seven persons involved in theft of passenger’s belongings and recovered valuables worth INR 2.92 lakh on January 10 and 11.

The recoveries were made from railway stations at Guwahati, Jagiroad, Lumding, New Coochbehar and Chaparmukh, stated an update from NFR chief PRO Sabyasachi De.

On January 10, the RPF team of Guwahati conducted a checking drive at Guwahati railway station and apprehended one person with two stolen mobile phones worth around INR 20,000.

On the same day, the RPF of Alipurduar, jointly with the RPF of New Coochbehar, conducted a drive at the New Coochbehar railway station and apprehended one person with eight stolen mobile phones worth around INR 2.32 lakh.

On January 11, the RPF team of Chaparmukh conducted a checking drive at Jagiroad railway station and apprehended one person with a stolen mobile phone worth around INR 10,000.

It stated that all the apprehended persons were handed over to the respective in-charge of GRP for further legal action.

It mentioned that the RPF of NF Railway is always ready to provide services to extend guidance and assistance to commuters on the railway, besides their task of ensuring passenger security. It further asked railway passengers to dial 139 (toll-free) if they come across any problems during their journey.
