RPF recovers e-tickets worth INR 91 thosuand, apprehends two touts
Dimapur, Feb. 18 (EMN): Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway, on getting information, raided two shops/agencies in two different locations and recovered 50 railway e-tickets worth more than INR 91 thousand on Feb. 14 and 15.
In an incident on Feb. 14, Inspector/CIB/New Jalpaiguri of RPF conducted a decoy check on the basis of a written complaint regarding touting activities in a shop/agency named “Maa Tara Tour and Travels”, situated at Daspara, a press release informed.
On the basis of the above complaint, Inspector/RPF/Kishanganj registered a case under section 143 of Railways Act. SI/RPF along with staff conducted a raid and search in the shop. During the course of raid, they recovered three live e-tickets, worth INR 4,319 and 21 past e-tickets worth INR 76,486.00 (approx).
Electronic items, records and cash of INR 2,500 were also seized during the raid, but the shop owner managed to run away.
The apprehended persons were prosecuted under section 143 of the Railways Act, it said.
