RPF makes several arrests, recovers 24 railway tickets

DIMAPUR — The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) apprehended at least five persons and recovered 24 railway tickets worth more than INR 78,000 multiple locations while conducting checks in the zone between March 9 and the 14th.

Providing details about the cases, the NFR updated that the RPF apprehended two touts along with 16 railway tickets worth approximately INR. 57890 while conducted checks at multiple locations on March 10 and 11.

The CIB team of RPF apprehended one tout along with 2 railway tickets worth around INR10,655 on March 12, while one more tout was arrested along with six e-tickets worth around INR 10,085 during a raid and search operation at ‘UM Printers’ located at Missamari, Assam, on March 13.

It informed that cases have been registered under section 143 of the Railways Act for all the incidents.

The NFR went on to update that one person was apprehended from Goalpara Town on March 9 for pelting stone at Train No. 05640 (Kolkata-Silchar Special), for which a case has been filed under section 154 of the Railways Act.

“Unauthorized supply and procurement of railway tickets as well as activities that leads to damage of railway properties are considered as punishable offence under section 143 & 154 respectively of the Railways Act that can lead to fines and imprisonment,” it stated.
