Royal Club Kohima celebrates 36th Raising Day
KOHIMA — The Royal Club Kohima (RCK) held its 36th Raising Day on November 1 at Riiliezou, Kohima, with K Puroh, former chairman of the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC), as the keynote speaker.
Puroh delved into the club’s history and the legacy of its activities in his address to club members, highlighting the Royal Gold Cup, an All India Football Federation (AIFF)-affiliated tournament, which the club continued to host even during difficult and tumultuous times.
Puroh encouraged the club’s younger members to seek opportunities for the club’s resurgence, with the goal of restoring the club’s illustrious reputation.
K Sono Mepfhuo, former chief architect of Planning and Development, PWD, and Vituohu Rame, the most senior club member, echoed similar sentiment, urging all members to revitalise RCK through their collective contributions and uphold its motto of ‘service to all’.
The day culminated with a special performance by former minister Dr. Nicky Kire.
While speaking with Eastern Mirror on Saturday, Kenny Peseyie, general secretary of the RCK, revealed that the club currently has 50 members.
He highlighted the club’s diverse activities, which include organising inter-high school football tournaments, charitable visits on national days, and sporting events encompassing wrestling, volleyball, and various other disciplines.
Peseyie also mentioned the club’s involvement in events such as extempore speeches, debate sessions, and providing financial assistance during natural calamities, emphasising the club’s commitment to community service.
